About Kiserian

Kiserian overlooks a beautiful dam with resident hippos and abundant birdlife. It has a total of five rooms and can accommodate up to ten guests. The two ensuite bedroom cottage is beautifully detailed with a swimming pool, a central open plan dining area, a kitchen and a living room. The three ensuite tented rooms have a separate mess area. The tented rooms are set adjacent to the cottage and is a short two-minute walk from the cottage along the shores of the Mau Dam. They consists of three spacious sleeping tents, each with a double bed, en suite bathroom with flush toilet and shower, and a private veranda.

Kiserian is an absolute wildlife paradise, especially for birders. Hippos and crocodiles live in the lake adjacent to the cottage, and there’s fishing from the dam wall. Cycling is the best way to get around camp, although caution is required – all walking and cycling is done at one's own risk and only when accompanied by a professional Maasai guide. There’s a fireplace in the living room and a fire pit outside. The cooker in the cottage kitchen uses gas and the water is heated by ‘kuni’ – Swahili for wood. Water is also collected from the roof and stored in a large underground tank. Whilst we can hold 30,000 litres of fresh rainwater, we still use water sparingly.
